FIELD GRADE OFFICERS COURSE (CPOS) - GUARDA NACIONAL REPUBLICANA (NATIONAL REPUBLICAN GUARD)

 

AIM

The Field Grade Officers Course (CPOS) – National Republican Guard (GNR - Guarda Nacional Republicana) supports the training of GNR Captains providing them the skills and military technical expertise needed to perform duties as senior officers.

 

COURSE STRUCTURE

The Field Grade Officers Course (CPOS) – GNR comprises 21 course units in various scientific areas, organized around two training components – a specific training component attended only by GNR students, and a common and joint training component taught jointly to all students of the CPOS (Navy, Army, Air Force and GNR). The course is organized in accordance with the European Credits Trading System (ECTS). The total number of credits required to complete the course is 60 ECTS (32 ECTS credits allocated to the specific GNR training component and 28 ECTS credits allocated to the common and joint component).

COURSE LENGHT
 
The duration of the course is one curricular year, approximately 36 weeks including school holidays, in daytime and on an exclusive basis.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS CONFERRED BY THE COURSE
 
Upon completion of the Field Grade Officers Course (CPOS) - GNR, a Postgraduate Diploma in Military and Police Sciences is granted to students who successfully conclude all syllabus units, with a total of 60 ECTS credits achieved.
This Course is a special condition for promotion to the rank of Major.
The Field Grade Officers Course – GNR, being part of the career-long training process, is compatible with the general rules of structure and curriculum evaluation practiced in study levels within the higher military studies without, in itself, conferring an academic degree. Nevertheless, the course makes it possible to carry out further studies in the Security and Defence field of studies.
 
 
Post-graduation in Law and Security
 
According to a protocol established with the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA University of Lisbon), through its Faculdade de Direito (Law School), a Postgraduate Diploma in Law and Security Studies is granted to students who successfully conclude all syllabus units.
This Postgraduate Diploma is a responsibility of NOVA University and confers the title of Auditor on Homeland Security.
 
 
ADMISSION CONDITIONS
 
The Field Grade Officers Course (CPOS) – GNR is attended, on an exclusive basis, by specifically appointed officers of the Permanent Republican National Guard Boards, with the rank of Captain.
The course may be attended by officers of friendly countries of similar ranks under a superiorly defined access regime.
